BIG HEATH CONSERVATION PARK. 6.04.2014

After looking at the map and realising that the Big Heath C.P. was only a couple of kms from the Mary Seymour C.P. I decided that it would be a waste to pass up the opportunity.Continuing West Bool Lagoon Rd. to the end of the Mary Seymour park the bitumen turns hard left and there is a gravel road to the right. Turn right and travel along the gravel road, (Track) for about 0.5 to0.75 km. (the track must get very boggy when wet as someone has laid down very sharp rocks about 20 – 30 mm in size along a fair length of it and I was a bit worried about puncturing a tyre on the shopping trolley). A Big Heath Conservation Park sign greets you just past a vineyard. As I was setting up the squid pole there was a loud series of bangs and I thought I was being shot at by an angry farmer. I soon realised that the farmer had a number of bird scarers operating to keep the cockatoos off the vines. (Phew) The park is a very pretty one with large gums and not much in the way of rubbish, (ferns etc.) on the ground. A beaut spot to set up. I had 28 contacts from here including 9 park to park and 2 S.O.T.A. so it was my  most successful activation for the weekend.
