Tom, VK5EE and I went to Penambol C.P. to do a brief activation for the Friday evening activity suggested by Chris, VK4FR and set up by Paul, VK5PAS the father of the parks award setup here on South Australia.

For once I was able to talk Tom into doing the talking and once we had set up he was able to have about 15 contacts in the space of about 45 minutes. He then dug the heels in and refused to do any more so I had a bit of a go. I only managed a further 6 contacts before it started to rain. Tom and I quickly dismantled the station and packed it all in the car and headed for home. Our time was nearly up for the day anyway as we had the first meeting of the South East Radio Group for 2015 to attend early in the evening.

Many thanks to those who called us and also to the other parks enthusiasts who went out into various parks to activate them.

It was magnificent at Penambol with NO RF NOISE at all. Pure pleasure after the racket at both Tom and my home QTH.

Here is a short video of the activation.

Cheers

    Hi Col,

Well done to you & Tom for getting out there. Sadly I missed you fellas, as you know. The rain had got you guys. And poor navigational skills by myself and the sighting of the endangered Malle Fowl, made me late at Mount Boothby CP.

Amazing about the rain. It was warm and sunny at Mt Boothby. Look forward to seeing your You Tube video.

    Best 73,

    Paul,
